Sino-Italian Joint Laboratory for Sustainable Urban and Rural Heritage Conservation and Regeneration
A new joint laboratory has been established at the Joint School of Design and Innovation: the "Sino-Italian Joint Laboratory for Sustainable Urban and Rural Heritage Conservation and Regeneration." This initiative stems from the collaboration between Xi’an Jiaotong University and the Politecnico di Milano.

On November 9, the Italy-China Rectors’ Forum was held at Peking University, jointly organized by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and the Italian Ministry of University and Research.
Study Tour “Heritage and Contemporary Architecture in Italy”
On July 9th 2024 a group of 19 students of the Joint School, Architecture program, together with 2 professors from XJTU landed in Milano to take part in a study tour during which they visited Milano, Como, Mantova, Verona, Vicenza and Sabbioneta.
A Morphological Interpretation of a Northern Chinese Traditional Village – Case Study of Zhangdaicun Village
On 5th June 2024, Prof. Li Kun presented his book "A morphological interpretation of a northern Chinese traditional village- case study of Zhangdaicun village", in conversation with professors Zhai Binqing, XJTU, and Gerardo Semprebon, Polimi. The conference is part of the series of seminars "Design-Future" for XJTU students, held in the Milan Building.
A network of slow routes “in between” Italian UNESCO sites
On March 7, 2024, Alessandro Scandiffio, professor at Politecnico di Milano, held the seminar: "A network of slow routes 'in between' Italian UNESCO sites”. The conference is part of the series of seminars "Design-Future" which take place in the Milan Building and are open to all XJTU students.
HANSR Workshop 2022
The fifth workshop of the Heritage Alliance of the New Silk Road (HANSR), will take place on 4th-6th November 2022, hosted by Nazarbayev University’s School of Sciences and Humanities. The Conference "Heritage: Mobility and migration, past and present" is open to scholars from all career stages who conduct work in Eurasia, the Call for Papers will close on 30th July 2022.

Towards a Sustainable Post-Pandemic Society
The Politecnico di Milano and the University Alliance of the Silk Road (UASR) suggest a critical survey on the theme of sustainability in a post-pandemic society. The different contributions will offer a broad and interdisciplinary reflection on the possible meanings of this concept from an ethical, social, and design point of view. The debate will involve, at different scales, the new social and cultural models induced by the post-pandemic society and the possible forms of living that derive from it.
Joint School project Final Defence
On 22 October 2021 took place the Final Defence for the Joint School Project and two new BSc programs, in “Architecture” and “Engineering-Industrial Design”, before experts of the Chinese Ministry of Education and the Education Department of Shaanxi province (where Xi’an is located).
2021 Richard B. Schultz Best Transaction Paper Award
Xiaokang Liu, once a student of the MSc double degree program between Polimi and XJTU and currently a researcher at Polimi has won the Richard B. Schultz Best Transaction Paper Award assigned by the IEEE Electromagnetic Compatibility Society for the year 2020.
International Video competition for Students and PhD candidates
Politecnico di Milano is launching an international video competition for students and PhD candidates with the collaboration of the University Alliance “Heritage Alliance of the New Silk Road”. To participate register and submit your video within 10 October 2021.
Summer School “Design and Innovation: the Italian Way”
The online courses “Innovation and Design: The Italian Way” discuss the peculiarities of the Italian approach in developing design-driven innovations in several industries: Furniture, Arts and Culture, Fashion, Food, Materials, Yacht. To attend register within July 19th.
